Is a type of glass that holds together when shattered? Laminated glass is made up of two pieces of regular or tempered glass sandwiched around a layer of clear plastic film
Black painted glass is ideal for backsplashes, tabletops, countertops, shelving and more. All backpainted glass is tempered and utilizes low-iron Starphire glass for color clarity. Available in several thicknesses and standard gloss and matte (acid etch) finishes.
Shatter resistant glass can protect against these brute force methods. Shatter proof glass typically is composed of layers of glass sandwiched around layers of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) or ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA). Rather than the window shattering, this allows the glass to absorb the impact into a “spider-web” shape, while still retaining its fixed shape.
Annealed glass has undergone a cooling treatment at a glass fabricator’s float plant as a way to improve durability. From its beauty to its versatility to its practicality, glass can serve a wide range of functions. Many may not realize, however, all the various treatments it can undergo to maximize its customizable properties prior to installation
A wide range of designs and textures with the right opacities to control privacy and to control brightness. This used in offices, cabinets, bathrooms, furniture and a range of decorative applications.
Toughened glass is at least five times as strong as regular glass and requires a strong amount of force to break it. If this does happen, the glass has been treated in such a way that it will break into small, blunt pieces, making it much safer than the dangerous shards of regular glass.
Low Iron Glass is a type of high-clarity glass that is made from silica with very low amounts of iron. This low level of iron removes the greenish-blue tint that can be seen especially on larger and thicker sizes of glass. Low-iron glass is used for aquariums, display cases, some windows, and other applications where clarity is desired
Mirrored glass is another phrase used for reflective glass. It is glass that has been treated with a metallic substance and offers mirror-like properties. The phrase mirrored glass can apply to products made specifically to serve as mirrors as well as glass that is reflective but made for architectural or decorative purposes, such as facades or table tops.
